St Peter's crowned CCFL Senior Division champions
St Peter's have secured the CCFL Senior Division title with three games to spare.
Two goals from Luke Kelly, in addition to one each from Neill Macken, Jordan Carr and Gary Kelly, secured a 5-1 win over local rivals Monksland United at McCarthy Park last night (Wednesday).
Mark McConnell's side have lost only one game during the league campaign, which came against last season's champions Willow Park, and the Hoops marched to the title with some emphatic victories in recent weeks.
The Senior Division is the top flight in the Combined Counties Football League.
"The CCFL Senior Division trophy is after crossing the Shannon to take up residence in McCarthy Park for the next 12 months," St Peter's posted online.
Attention now turns to this Sunday's Paddy Cotter Cup final against Ballinahown as St Peter's aim for more silverware. The final will be played at DPD Park, Athlone (home ground of Willow Park FC), kick-off 1pm.
