Moate's Glor Children's Choir have returned from the Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival with some added silverware.
The triumphant local choir were awarded 1st place in the festival's popular music competition, as well as earning 2nd place in the Children's Choir / Primary Schools competition.
Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival took place from May 3 to the 11, and engages talent from all age groups by hosting competitions for Primary and Post Primary School Choirs, as well as Youth Choirs.
Since September, the talented group of primary school-aged singers have been diligently preparing for the Children’s Choir and Primary School Choir competitions, diving into an exciting new repertoire under the guidance of conductor Ciaran Brady and accompanied by pianist Katherine Crossen.
The group wowed the adjudicators and clinched second place out of 11 choirs, earning a certificate and plenty of praise.
In their second competition, GLOR Children’s Choir soared to even greater heights, claiming first place among six choirs.
Adjudicators Brian Dungan and Brian Murphy applauded their “wonderful, balanced and blended sound and a dynamic performance of a challenging musical programme.”
Founded in 2008 by Ciaran Brady, a full-time vocal coach and director of numerous award-winning ensembles, GLOR Children’s Choir has become a shining example of musical excellence in the Midlands.
The Moate-based choir provides young singers with a rich musical education—learning to sight-read, sing from sheet music, and train for graded vocal exams.
GLOR Children’s Choir serves as the junior branch of the wider GLOR choral family, with the GLOR Youth Choir continuing the tradition for secondary school aged students. Both choirs rehearse weekly on Thursdays in Moate—and new members are always welcome to join the harmony!
With voices strong and spirits high, GLOR Children’s Choir has once again proven that hard work, passion, and a love of music can create something truly magical.
