Moate Community Hall to host summer indoor market for charity
The Annual Summer Indoor Market is set to be held in Moate Sports & Recreation Centre this Sunday (May 18).
The market will be held from 10am to 5pm, and all fund will be donated to a local cause which is yet to be revealed.
Organised by the Mount Carmel Drive Residents Association, the market event started in 2018 as the main fundraiser to maintain and improve the community’s all-inclusive playground and surrounding areas.
"On the day, there will be between 50 to 55 stalls selling brick-a-brack items, everything from jewellery to clothes to toys," said Mary Grealy, market organiser.
"We've hosted the market every year since 2018 with the exception of Covid. The community have been so supportive of our efforts to fund the playground, and now that it's finished, we want to give something back."
There will be a small raffle held on the day, with spot prizes to be won.
With backing from local businesses and councillor Tom Farrell, the event is a cherished community highlight.
"We want to thank the people of Moate and the surrounding area for their support over the years, to Marie Fleming who organises all the stalls, and to both SuperValu and Cooney's Pharmacy who always support us with prizes for our raffles."
