Two Westmeath players named on Tailteann Cup 'team of the week'

Two Westmeath footballers have been named on the GAA.IE Tailteann Cup 'team of the week'.

Defender Sam McCartan and forward Luke Loughlin made significant contributions to the Lake County's opening Group 3 victory over Antrim in TEG Cusack Park Mullingar on Sunday afternoon.

Loughlin continued his early season scoring league form and complemented his display in the opening Leinster senior football championship loss to Kildare with an outstanding return of 1-17 over the game's duration.

Wing back McCartan also featured amongst the game's scoring contributors, amassing 1-2 prior to his departure from the contest after 64 minutes.

Westmeath, who many view as one of the favourites for this year's Tailteann Cup, travel to Ruislip this weekend where they will play London, a game which throws in on Sunday at 2pm.
