Skyvalley Rovers claim promotion to RDFL Premier Division

Skyvalley Rovers claimed the Roscommon & District Football League Division One Championship following a hard earned draw with Moylough '79 in their final game of the season.

Knowing a draw was required to claim the silverware and promotion to the RDFL Premier Division, goals from Brian Croffey and Conal Moore ensured Skyvalley achieved their start of season goal with a 2-2 draw.

St John's Athletic claimed their inaugural Roscommon & District Football League Premier Division title when defeating Moore United in an epic eight goal encounter in Lecarrow on Sunday afternoon (see report in this week's Westmeath Independent).

Before a huge crowd St John's came from three goals down to net on five occasions in the second half and claim the prized silverware.

Needing a draw to be crowned champions, goals from Jay McPhilbin, Charles Nevin and Josh Lennon had Moore United in the ascendancy, but with a large home support in attendance St Johns showed their tenacity

Against all the odds and with the side roared on by a big home support, St John's did the impossible and added five goals without reply in the second half. Daire Keenan and Kevin Brennan each netted a brace, Cian Kelly completing the comeback to mark scenes of mass celebration in Lecarrow.

Meanwhile, St John's second team beat Glen Celtic 3–1 at Lecarrow to gain promotion to Division 1 next season. Conor Murphy continued his scoring run with Vando Silva and MJ O'Connor completing the scoring for the victors.
