Landmark Moate public house goes on the market

A landmark business on Main Street in Moate, Bo Allen's Bar and Lounge has been placed up for sale.

Following 27 years of trading, owner William Allen has taken the decision to retire from the trade having taken over the well established business in 1998.

As he looks forward to his retirement the Mount Temple native said that he was sad to leave the business acknowledging that the pub trade had been very good to him through the years.

"Bo Allen’s is one of the better pubs in the Midlands and thankfully, we have had regular customers who have been really good to me since I took over the pub," William said.

In keeping with the changing social times William has evolved the pub, Bo Allen’s now known as one of the main sports bars in Moate and the Midlands region.

"Live sport on television is a big draw for customers and as we show GAA, football and horse racing, business remains regular and good," William said.

William acknowledged that when the time comes he will miss the day to day interaction with his customers, many of whom have become friends over the years.

"I wish to thank them for their custom and for all the memories shared over the last 27 years," William said.

Listed on the property market by Sherry Fitzgerald Davitt & Davitt Mullingar, the well established three-storey public house features a private four bedroom residence spanning approximately 5,000 square feet and includes a large bar, lounge, pool room, cold room, basement, beer garden and separate private entrance to the residence.
