South Westmeath Hospice calls for local support for Sunflower Days
by Eve Carey
South Westmeath Hospice Foundation has announced that Hospice Sunflower Days is returning for its 35th year next month. Hospice Sunflower Days Ambassadors, Miriam O’Callaghan and Jenny McCarthy, officially launched this year’s campaign recently.
You can support South Westmeath Hospice Foundation by donating to the on-street volunteers on Friday, June 6 or Saturday, June 7.
As well as the on-street collection, the public can also support South Westmeath Hospice Foundation by donating online throughout the month of June at www.sunflowerdays.ie. Every euro raised locally, stays locally and the donation will go directly to South Westmeath Hospice Foundation.
The funds raised play a vital role in supporting the delivery of specialist palliative care in communities across Ireland. Hospice and specialist palliative homecare services provide free-of-charge care and support to those living with a life-limiting illness, whilst also helping and supporting the patient’s family members.
Speaking at the launch of the 2025 Hospice Sunflower Days campaign, Clare Lennon, Chairperson, South Westmeath Hospice, said: “We are thrilled to launch the 35th Hospice Sunflower Days campaign. We rely so much on the public’s support which allow us to continue to provide our vital services. We are calling on everyone from South Westmeath to donate what they can, either on-street or on-line this June, as every euro raised locally, stays locally and really does make a big difference at a local level.”
Hospice Sunflower Days Ambassador, Miriam O’Callaghan, commented, “The Hospice Sunflower Days campaign is one I am absolutely delighted to support as I have seen first-hand the fantastic work and care that hospices and home-care services provide to patients and families all across the country.
"With hospices needing to raise approximately €20 million each year to continue to provide their specialist care, it is so important for the public to show their support by donating on-street or on-line during this year’s campaign.”
