A pub and a restaurant in Athlone were crowned as the best in Ireland and Leinster at the national final of the 2025 Irish Restaurant Awards in Dublin last night (Monday).

The town's most well-known pub, Sean's Bar, was chosen as Ireland's 'pub of the year' at the award ceremony, while Thyme restaurant added to its lengthy list of accolades by being named the provincial winner for Leinster in the 'best restaurant' category.

Sean's and Thyme made it through to the national finals after being selected as the best pub and restaurant in Westmeath at the regional Irish Restaurant Awards ceremony held in Kildare in March.

Last night's final was held at the Clayton Hotel, on Dublin's Burlington Road, and was attended by more than 1,000 of the country's top hospitality professionals.
