LISTEN: Athlone songwriter's new single is 'a heartbreak anthem'

Talented Athlone singer-songwriter Ellen O’Meara has today (Friday) released her latest single, which is described as "a heartbreak anthem for anyone who’s loved blindly".

Cruel Intentions is the title of the new song by the Mount Temple native, which is out now on streaming platforms.

Its release follows on from the success of Ellen's viral track Body Issues and her charity single Song for Palestine, which was released in support of the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.

Known for her raw, honest songwriting, Ellen’s latest track delves into the pain of becoming strangers with someone you once loved.

Like much of her work, the song balances emotional vulnerability with flashes of humour and self-deprecation, reminding listeners how heartbreak can be both tragic and absurd.

Ellen’s previous releases have earned her editorial support from Spotify’s Breath of Fresh Éire, a feature on RTÉ’s Radio One Recommends, and widespread engagement on TikTok.
