Athlone's Desi rubs shoulders with international acts ahead of home town gig in November
Entertainer Desi Egan, who divides his time between his native Athlone and Spain, has been meeting up in the sun with some international performers as he looks ahead to a show in his home town later this year.
Desi has toured with the American Drifters band on several occasions over the years, and he will be taking to the stage with the tribute act again in Athlone's Shamrock Lodge Hotel on November 15.
The Drifters group performs classic American soul hits from the likes of The Temptations, The O'Jays, Barry White and others.
Their show, with a special guest performance by Desi Egan, will be "keeping the music and memories alive" at various European venues this year.
Desi said he was greatly looking forward to the Shamrock Lodge show, pointing out that three members of the band had worked some of the original Drifters group, known for 60s hits such as Under The Boardwalk and Save the Last Dance for Me.
In Alicante, Spain, in recent weeks, Desi has been meeting up with performers such as New York doo wop legend John Cheatdom and Gamal John, of Britain's Got Talent, both of whom will also be appearing at the November show in the Shamrock Lodge.
In addition, at Puerto Banus, Marbella, he met up with Irish showband star Shaun O'Dowd, who also recently moved to the Marbella area on the Costa Del Sol.
