Athlone Library to benefit as part of €176,000 community funding boost

Athlone's Aidan Heavey Library is just one of a number of projects set to benefit from a total of €176,000 in community funding announced for local works.

Funding from the Community Recognition Fund has been delivered to a number of key projects locally including €86,614 for the upgrading of Athlone Library.

Minister of State, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran has welcomed funding from the Community Recognition Fund which includes €€86,614 for the upgrading of Athlone Library.

Other projects to receive funding include Ranelagh Way, which received a €90,000 in funding, as well as Monksland recreational and playground enhancements which come to the value of €80,000.

Minister Moran said: “I want to welcome this major funding announcement this morning. It is excellent news for Athlone and I am particularly delighted that the two projects, the upgrading of Athlone Library and the Ranelagh Way formally known as the ‘Golden Mile.’

“It is vital that we continue to invest in our communities and to enhance our facilities for the betterment of our towns.”
