Gertie Brownes Bar & Bistro receives prestigious hospitality award

The hospitality sector in Athlone received a further boost on Monday night when Gertie Brownes Bar & Bistro received a prestigious accolade at the Food Awards Ireland 2025.

Gertie Brownes Bar & Bistro was successful in the 'Lounge Bar of the Year' category at the awards ceremony which took place in the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport hotel.

In a social media post Gertie Brownes Bar & Bistro said it was "blown away" to win Ireland's best lounge bar "based on our service, ambience and selection of drinks".

The Food Awards Ireland are an annual celebration of the country's food scene, honouring the nation's top culinary destinations.

The Food Awards Ireland seek to recognise the hard work and efforts of those committed to always providing the country with the freshest of products and amazing delights.

They showcase the best restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and bistros, as well as those who help us explore new flavours and cuisines from different cultures.

The prestigious award win for Gerties Brownes Bar & Bistro comes less than a month following the major honours achieved by Sean's Bar and Thyme at the national final of the Irish Restaurant Awards.
