Two Westmeath players named on Tailteann Cup 'team of the week'

Two Westmeath footballers have been named on the GAA.IE Tailteann Cup 'team of the week' following the Lake County's preliminary quarter-final victory over Laois in the competition on Sunday afternoon.

Both team cpatain, Ronan Wallace and Sam McCartan, integral players in the Westmeath half back line were recognised for their individual exploits during the county's collective comprehensive victory over the O'Moore County in TEG Cusack Park Mullingar.

Wallace contributed 1-5 from his centre back berth, while McCartan picked off eight points as Westmeath advanced to the quarter-final stage of the competition following a 17 point win.

Both players will be hoping to have a similar impact on Sunday afternoon when Westmeath journey to Echelon Park Aughrim to play Wicklow in a final eight contest, throw-in 1.15pm.
