Gardai issue dangerous driving witness appeal after Athlone crash

Gardai have issued a public appeal for information on a dangerous driving incident which resulted in a crash at Fardrum, Athlone, last week.

The collision happened on Thursday evening last, June 5, between 7.30pm and 7.45pm on the N62 junction (Birr turn).

A statement from Gardai said a 2017 light brown/golden coloured vehicle was "was driving dangerously along the N62 before it collided with a vehicle" at the Birr junction.

"Following the collision the vehicle did not stop and continued to drive in the direction of Birr," the Garda spokesperson stated.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the driving of this vehicle along the route or dashcam footage to please contact Athlone Garda Station on 09064 98550."
