Great evening’s racing ahead at Kilbeggan’s Mid-Summer meeting

Monday, June 16, sees Kilbeggan Races hold their big Mid-Summer meeting and a great evening’s races is in store, with the first race underway at approximately 5.13pm.

The seven-race card includes the Belvedere House and Gardens Handicap Hurdle, while The Paul and Carmel Fay Memorial Handicap Hurdle, sponsored by the Fay Family, is scheduled for 6.48pm, over an extended three miles. There’s €25,000 in prize money for what is a competitive handicap hurdle, with both Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott having some interesting entries.

The Galway Plate Trial Handicap Steeplechase, over 2m4f51yds, is another big race at 7.48 pm, with a prize fund of €25,000 and Henry de Bromhead includes a couple of interesting runners.

It has been a busy racing season at the popular Westmeath venue thus far. On Sunday June 1, Kilbeggan Races hosted its first ever 'Best Dressed Guy' day, which was sponsored by Anthony and Kara Kearns of GUY Clothing and KODE Clothing & Footwear.

With prizes worth over €2,000, and the privilege of being crowned the first-ever winner of this competition in Kilbeggan, the event garnered plenty of attention.

And the day itself didn't disappoint, with many men of all ages stepping out in style to showcase their best attire in the hopes of impressing judges Alan Hughes, of TV show 'Ireland AM', and Irish country music star Mike Denver.

After scouting the crowd for more than two hours, Alan and Mike invited each of the chosen finalists to join them in the Marquee for a brief chat. From there, a top six was chosen and invited to join the judges onto the podium in the Parade Ring.

A large crowd gathered around the Parade Ring to see Shaun Conroy, of Portarlington, being proclaimed the overall winner.

With some great prizes going to the top three, and goodie bags going to all six finalists, nobody left disappointed.

Kilbeggan Races said this collaboration between itself and GUY Clothing, and KODE Clothing & Footwear, for the inaugural event was a huge success.

The baton is now being passed to the ladies to pull out all the stops for The Sustainable Style Ladies Day at Kilbeggan Racecourse, which takes place on July 11.
