Woman dies after medical incident at Athlone premises

Gardai have said a woman in her 50s died following a medical incident at a premises in Athlone town last night (Tuesday).

A spokesperson said that Gardai and paramedics attended the scene shortly before 9pm.

The woman was later pronounced dead, and her body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, where a post-mortem examination is to take place in due course.

A file will also be prepared for the coroner.

The spokesperson said no foul play is suspected at this time in relation to the woman's death.
