Warning issued over heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms.

Thunder and rainfall warning in place for Westmeath and Roscommon

A status yellow thunderstorm and heavy rain warning is in place for Westmeath and Roscommon for much of today.

Met Éireann issued the warnings this morning, with the weather warning in place for Westmeath and much of Leinster until 6pm today, while in Roscommon it doesn't expire until 9pm.

People in these areas are advised to expect heavy rainfall with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Met Éireann advised that possible impacts include localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

The weather warning is in place until 6pm for Westmeath, Offaly, Longford, Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Meath, Waterford, Wexford, and Wicklow.

It is in place for Roscommon, Sligo, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim and Monaghan until 9pm.
