Athlone Musical Society pays tribute to a "great natural talent"
Tributes have been paid to Coosan resident Liam Dwan who passed away on Sunday following a long illness.
In a poignant tribute, Athlone Musical Society said that Liam had a "great natural talent" having taken part in many of the great shows with the Society "starting in the late sixties and performing in his last show 'Wild Violets' in 1982".
"His natural talent allowed Liam to embody characters and deliver performances that were polished and creating a believable and engaging experience for his audiences. He was also able to hold a note and made the musical numbers his own using his voice to express his emotions.
"A short description of the great Liam Dwan as an actor, captivating, brought joy to others, magnetic, hilarious and a name that Athlone audiences will remember for many years to come. Rest in peace Liam."
Athlone Musical Society extended condolences to the Dwan family - Renata, Corinna, David, Lisa and of course his beloved Anne.
Liam is sadly missed by his wife, Anne, his children, Renata, Corinna, David and Lisa, extended family, Riaan, Aida and Paul, grandchildren Hannah, Jessie, Rahel and Luna, his brother Kevin (Holycross), and sister Kathleen (Dungarvan), and the wider and loving circle of Dwans.
His removal takes place this Thursday to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Coosan arriving at 7.30pm for evening prayers and reposing.
Requiem Mass will take place in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Friday at 12 noon followed by burial afterwards in Coosan Cemetery.
May he rest in peace.
