Athlone's Anthony Hayes departs Crystal Palace coaching role
Athlone man Anthony Hayes has departed his role as U21 coach at Crystal Palace Football Club.
In a social media post today (Friday), Hayes confirmed that his time at the Premier League club had come to an end.
Hayes said that he "appreciated the trust and the chance to contribute to a well-established and respected academy."
Reflecting on his three month stint with the South East London club, Hayes said he had gained "valuable experience working in this environment".
"I leave with respect for the work being done here and wish everyone continued success moving forward, for this season and beyond," Hayes said.
Referencing his future within the football coaching environment Hayes stated that "the page has turned but the title of the next chapter remains unwritten, at least for now".
Having started his coaching career in England with Premier League club Brentford, Hayes joined Charlton Athletic in June 2016 where he served numerous academy and first team coaching roles prior to his departure in September 2023.
Hayes was also a member of the Sunderland first-team coaching staff until his departure from the Stadium of Light at the end of the 2023/24 season.
He was appointed Gillingham assistant manager at the start of the 2024/25 season before departing the role in February of this year to take up the coaching role with Crystal Palace.
