Athlone artist to release new single 'Control'

Athlone native singer-songwriter Leah Moloney, stage name Liadh, is set to release her new single 'Control' next month.

The release date for her latest tune is set for Friday, July 18, and is currently available for pre-sale.

'Control' is an alt-pop track with elements of synth and disco, which Liadh wrote about her struggle to control my own mind and search for oblivion.

"At this time of my life, I was repressing a lot of my emotions and coping in unhealthy ways. In this way, my search for control ended up controlling me," she said.

"But ‘Control’ is also a mantra - a way to ground myself. I’d love for this song to help others escape their minds and feel present in their bodies, even if for a moment."

Speaking to the Westmeath Independent earlier this year, Liadh said her latest song 'Control' will be featured as part of her upcoming EP, titled 'Illusions', which she hopes to release in Autumn of this year.

To date, she has released two singles from the EP, including title track 'Illusions' and 'Can't Face The Day'.

"I actually wrote 'Control' about seven years ago as a poem, and I turned it into a song with my producer Lisa Murray," she said.

"We've been working together for two years now. It was a really cool process, because the poem didn't fit into the parameters of a song, so we did change some of the stanzas to fit the structure of a song."
