Top dogs: Local trio fetch Nose of Tralee semi-final spots
Three local dogs have made their owners paw-sitively proud as they earned their place at the Nose of Tralee semi-finals.
Moate's Mella, Athlone native Apollo, and Max, also from Athlone, have put on a fetching display as they won the hearts of the public to secure their spot.
Athlone native pup Apollo is a one and a half year old pooch is a beautiful Collie Shepherd mix. His owner Amanda belives he would make an excellent Nose of Tralee thanks to his handsome face, soulful eyes, and gentle spirit.
Mella from Moate is a friendly seven-month-old Labrador Retriever cross. Her owner Clodagh believes Mella is a worthy Nose of Tralee as she supported her through some of her toughest moments.
Max from Athlone is an eight-year-old Pug, and has been called the "boss of the street" and the heart of his home. His owner Nadia says his charm and confidence make him the perfect candidate for the Nose of Tralee.
Judges will decide which pet will represent each of the 32 Counties. And then go on to compete for the overall title of Nose of Tralee 2025.
Each pet will be judged based on: Number of Public Votes (33% of score); Quality, cuteness and uniqueness of photo (33% of score); Written entry (33% of score).
The pet with the most points will go through to the final.
It is hoped that the final 32 Noses will be announced around July 9, with voting starting again on July 24 once everyone has taken their finalist photo.
