Post-menopausal fitness trials return to TUS Athlone in July and August
The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) Athlone are carrying out further fitness and health testing days for postmenopausal women living in the Midlands.
Taking place in the Athlone International Arena in TUS, a host of flexible slots are being made available on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout July and August. Each session will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The free events are being held by Rita Trentz, PhD Researcher at TUS Athlone, Sport & Health Sciences Department as part of her PhD research.
"My research focuses on promoting physical activity and improving health outcomes for postmenopausal women, a group often underrepresented in health promotion efforts," said Ms Trentz,
"This life stage is marked by hormonal changes that increase the risk of several chronic conditions, including osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and breast cancer, the latter being one of the most common cancers among Irish women.
"Physical activity plays a key role in managing and reducing these risks, but many women experience barriers to staying active after menopause."
These sessions are a great opportunity for post menopausal women to check in on their health and fitness in a supportive, relaxed environment.
