Ireland call up for Buccaneers duo Henson and Anic

Andrew Henson and Leo Anic have been selected on the Ireland U-18 Schools squad that will join five other nations in an international series taking place in South Africa in August.

France, England and Georgia will be Ireland’s opponents next month along with two South African squads.

Moydrum native Henson plays as a full-back on the Buccaneers U-18.5 side, while lock forward Anic, who has signed from Creggs, is a member of the Buccs U-20 squad.

Henson was a key figure on the Marist College team which won the Connacht Schools Senior Cup earlier this year. He has also excelled in Gaelic football for Garrycastle, the Marist and Westmeath at underage level.

Anic, who joined Buccaneers from Creggs RFC, has also played rugby for CBS Roscommon.

“This is a wonderful opportunity and experience for these two richly promising players, who are the only two players from Connacht in the squad. We congratulate them on their selection and wish them the very best at the tournament,” said Buccaneers RFC.
