Athlone's Anthony Hayes appointed to new role with Queens Park Rangers
Athlone's Anthony Hayes has been appointed 'Methodology Lead' with English Football League Championship club Queen's Park Rangers (QPR).
QPR confirmed the appointment this afternoon (Monday), with Hayes focusing on player development in the U17-U21 age groups at the West London-based club.
A statement issued by QPR said that Hayes would fill the role of Methodology Lead "as the club looks to put itself in the best position for player development across all age groups".
The vastly experienced Hayes recently departed Crystal Palace where he served the role of U21 coach at the Premier League club.
The former Athlone Town player started his coaching career at Brentford’s academy where he spent five years working across all academy age groups before being appointed head of coaching.
Hayes moved to Charlton Athletic in 2016, holding coaching roles in their youth development and professional development phases before being appointed as first team assistant manager in July 2022, his time with the Addicks including a three game period as caretaker manager.
Following his departure from Charlton in 2023, Hayes spent time working as a first team coach at Sunderland and assistant manager with Gillingham.
