Athlone man's new play features in alternative arts festival in Galway

An Athlone man's play is currently running as part of the West End Theatre & Arts Festival in Galway.

Written by Hill of Berries native Malachy Duggan, a well known publican in the vibrant city, 'Campervan Wrinkle' is a core production in what the organiser's have described as a 'bold and alternative festival in Galway celebrating theatre, music, art, drag, circus, comedy, and more in non-traditional spaces'.

Complementing the success of Duggan's first play ''Jezahel - Vampires Can't Weld' which played for one week at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2024, 'Campervan Wrinkle' is a unique theatre experience in that it plays to an audience of two....in the back of a van!

Duggan described the play as an "intimate bedtime story about romance, reality, wellness and things that go bump in the night".

"The play is perfect for couples just starting out or those who have been driving down that road for way too long," Duggan said.

Duggan is one of the founders of the West End Theatre and Arts Festival which runs until Wednesday, July 30.

Tickets for 'Campervan Wrinkle', priced €10 per couple, can be purchased at the following link www.tickettailor.com/events/wtafgalway/1749425.
