Rosemount's Kelly included in Leinster squad for Interpro series

Emma Kelly from Rosemount has been included in the Leinster rugby squad for the Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Series which starts next Sunday, August 10.

A former pupil of Moate Community School, Kelly is a daughter of Siobhain and Damien Kelly.

Kelly has been named as one of 17 forwards in the squad which starts the defence of their title with a fixture against Ulster in Energia Park Donnybrook on Sunday at 2.30pm.

It is a further boost for the Old Belvedere club player who recently made her international debut for the Ireland women's rugby league team, having accepted an invitation from national team head coach Matty Kennerson to join the squad who hope to secure a place at the 2026 Women's Rugby League World Cup in Brisbane.

With many of last season’s squad unavailable for selection due to rugby world cup commitments with Ireland, Leinster head coach Ben Martin announced an initial training squad of 65 players last month, but has now chosen his 30 players for the start of this weekend's championships.

Leinster will host Munster in their second interprovincial championship fixture on Saturday, August 16 at 2.30pm before they play Connacht in their final group outing in the Dexcom Stadium on Saturday, August 23 at 2.30pm.

The championship's finals day will then take place in Energia Park on Saturday, August 30.
