Athlone rowers Darragh and Dominick compete in Austria
Athlone Boat Club is celebrating yet another proud chapter on the international stage.
Last weekend, Dominick Cunningham and Darragh Collins represented Ireland at the Coupe de la Jeunesse held in Linz, Austria, delivering an excellent performance to reach the ‘A’ final, finishing sixth overall.
They battled hard over two days of racing competing against some of the best of Europe’s juniors.
The exploits of Darragh and Dominick come hot on the heels of Martin O’Grady and Donagh Claffey winning a bronze medal at the U23 World Rowing Championships,
“Having two Athlone rowers competing together for Ireland is a huge achievement and a great source of pride for everyone at the club," said Athlone Boat Club
"Their success serves as motivation and inspiration for our younger members proving that with hard work and commitment you can earn your place at the top of Irish junior rowing.”
