A new tattoo parlour is set to open in the former Behan's Fruit and Veg unit in Athlone.
The Old Stone Tattoo House officially opened its doors on Saturday, August 2, with the new studio offering both tattoo and piercing services.
Located on Scotch Parade, Irishtown, Athlone, the building was home to Behan's Fruit and Veg for some 36 years, before its closure in August last.
The shop is owned by tattoo artist Eric Kilmartin, and employs two expert service providers, tattoo artist Hannah Byrne and piercer Dylan Heavin.
The event saw live music and refreshments, as well as a significant turn out of locals looking to share their support for the new business.
Eric said: "Thanks to everyone who came thanks for all the cards. Big thanks to waller Ryan Jinks radio 90s, Chris Flicker for the awesome artwork, Sabrinas Cakes for all the lovely buns, to Jordan Monaghan for the hotdogs, and to Mike Ryan for cutting the ribbon.
"You're all a great bunch, thanks to everyone who who has supported us and shared all the posts, it really makes me very proud to be an Athlone man and shows how great our community is!"
The staff expressed their sincere thanks to all those who came along to the grand opening.
