Completion of Gort an Locha housing scheme in Moate
Fitzpatrick & Heavey Group has announced the completion of the Gort an Locha residential development in Moate.
The scheme includes 35 high-quality homes, 22 of which were delivered under the Affordable Purchase Scheme in partnership with Westmeath County Council and Home Building Finance Ireland (HBFI).
The three and four-bedroom homes were sold at an average price of €233,000, which the company said demonstrated that high-specification, family-focused housing can be delivered affordably in today’s market. The project was made possible through strong collaboration with public bodies including Westmeath County Council, HBFI, Uisce Éireann, ESB, and Fitzpatrick & Heavey's in-house teams, sub-contractors, and suppliers.
Ciaran Fitzpatrick, CEO of Fitzpatrick & Heavey Group, commented: “We are proud to have completed our latest housing scheme in Moate, adding to the significant progress we’ve made already in 2025. Delivering high-quality, affordable homes in partnership with local authorities is at the core of our mission. This development shows what can be achieved when the Affordable Purchase Scheme is utilised effectively, and it’s great to see families now settling into homes they can truly afford. It’s also a clear signal that we need to scale up – with larger schemes like this playing a key role in easing pressure on the housing market in Ireland.”
Located in the heart of Moate, the new development provides residents with a desirable blend of convenience and quality of life. The area boasts excellent amenities including nearby schools and a scenic greenway with Athlone town just a short 10-minute drive away.
Fitzpatrick Heavey Group is actively seeking additional land opportunities throughout Ireland as it continues to play a central role in addressing the national housing crisis. The group currently has over 500 homes under construction across counties Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Cork and Cavan.
