Castledaly goalkeeper on Donegal senior football championship 'team of the week'

Former Castledaly senior football goalkeeper Jordan Nugent gained recognition for his goalkeeping display in a Donegal senior football championship game this past weekend.

Now occupying the custodian role with his adopted GAA club, The Downings, Nugent played a pivotal role in his team's two point win over Kilcar.

His performance earned him a place in the Donegal Democrat newspaper's 'Team of the Week' who said Nugent's performance helped his team to a huge away win over Kilcar.

"His second half penalty save from Patrick McBrearty was crucial to the result and Nugent also made a number of other top class saves as well", the Donegal Democrat reported.

The son of Joe and Grainne Nugent from Castledaly, Jordan has relocated to The Downings where he is completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter.

Renowned for his ability to score long distance frees during his time with Castledaly, Jordan also previously featured for the Westmeath U20 footabll team.
