Gardai appeal for witnesses after fatal Midlands road accident this morning
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in the Midlands this morning which claimed the life of a male in his 40's.
The collision involving a crane and two vans occurred in county Offaly, on the R401 road at Drumcooly, outside Edenderry at approximately 6:15am.
The driver of one of the vans - a male in his 40's - was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The male driver of the other van, in his 30's, was brought to Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The road is closed pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and will conduct its own investigation.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6:00am and 6:30am on Wednesday morning, 27th August, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
