All-Ireland glory for Pippa Cuffe

Kilbeggan Pitch and Putt Club notes

What a hectic few weeks it has been for 13-year-old Pippa Cuffe of Kilbeggan Pitch and Putt Club.

Having already secured gold in Leinster strokeplay and matchplay, she headed to Bagnelstown as part of a strong Westmeath contingent. And she did not disappoint. Two rounds of 57 gave her victory with a six over par total on an extremely challenging course.

Heartiest congratulations to Pippa and her dad Niall, who, as a coach ranks as one of Ireland's best.

We well done also to Tommy Weir, who was third in the boys 14-16 age group. The Westmeath team of Tommy, Pippa, Harry Tone and Sean Condron finished fifth. Well done to all on a great day.

Inter-county update

Pippa Cuffe's sister Gemma was part of the Westmeath ladies team in Inniskeen on Saturday, August 23 in the Leinster ladies inter-county competition. She was joined by clubmate Veronica Clarke. Also on Saturday in Cloghogue, Brendan Clarke was part of the other Westmeath junior gents team.
