Keena commends tourist season flower displays in Athlone

Flower presentations dotted throughout the town of Athlone during peak tourist season have been commended by Cllr Frankie Keena.

"These vibrant flowers and carefully maintained arrangements bring so much colour and charm to the town, creating a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere for both residents and visitors alike," Cllr Keena said.

Cllr Keena said the colourful flower arrangements are noticeable in hanging baskets, business window box displays, on roundabouts and along grass verges on the approach roads to Athlone.

Such are their colourful presence in the town, the Cllr stated that he has received "positive comments" from the general public during the summer season.

"It is lovely to get such positive comments from the public, as this in turn definitely encourages the provision of more flower arrangements elsewhere in the town next year.

In particular, the fabulous wild summer flowers which are blooming along the grass verges on the Ballymahon road near the Whitegates have caught the eyes and imaginations of many people," Cllr Keena added.

Cllr Keena thanked the Athlone Tidy Towns volunteers and Municipal District staff members who plant and maintain the flower displays throughout Athlone.

"It's clear that a great deal of thought and effort has gone into the planting and upkeep of these flowers by both the Athlone Municipal District and indeed the Athlone Tidy Towns. These flower displays truly enhances the beauty of our town and community," Cllr Keena concluded.
