Moydrum's McGann on the double as Ireland secure quarter-final spot

Two tries from Moydrum's Anna McGann proved pivotal as Ireland confirmed their place in the Women's Rugby World Cup with a 43-27 Pool C win over Spain.

The winger scored her first try of the tournament in the opening half of the contest and crossed the line once again on 70 minutes ensuring victory for Ireland and a place in the knockout phase of the competition.

There was further Midlands representation in the Ireland team with Clara's Aoife Dalton playing 60 of the 80 minutes in her customary midfield berth.

With a place in the quarter-finals now secured, Ireland play New Zealand this weekend with the winning nation guaranteed top spot in Pool C.

Ireland's closing Pool C game against the reigning Women's Rugby World Cup takes place in the Brighton & Hove Albion Stadium at 2.45pm on Sunday.
