Roscommon Hospital makes bid for Age Friendly status

An Age Friendly Walkability Audit has been carried out at Roscommon Hospital as they continue on their quest to achieve Age Friendly accreditation at the medical facility.

The audit, which took place on Thursday last, included 28 people with a mixture of abilities who took on two specific walking routes. The Age Friendly Hospital steering committee focused on identifying barriers at the hospital for older people, those with disabilities and those with sensory or mobility challenges. The audit was preceded by a briefing session facilitated by Declan Gaffney, Age Friendly Ireland’s Technical Advisor.

Following the walk, participants gathered for a debrief session where feedback was shared and discussed. The feedback and pictures will now be compiled into a formal report.

The Age Friendly Hospital Steering Committee extends sincere thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to this meaningful initiative.
