Witnesses sought after Ballykeeran break-in

Gardai in Athlone are seeking witnesses to break-in a in the Ballykeeran area on Wednesday afternoon.

Between 2pm and 4pm on Wednesday, September 3, a house in the area was broken into after a window was smashed. Nothing was taken during the burglary.

It is possibly linked to a similar incident in Horseleap on the same day, which is being investigated by Clara Gardai.

A Garda spokesman has reminded people to be vigilant to such crimes, particularly during daytime hours. Sgt Dermot Monaghan said that while in this case a window was smashed to gain entry to the house, people should ensure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes and if they have alarms to make sure they are set.

He asked anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Ballykeeran area between 2pm and 4pm on Wednesday, September 3, to contact Athlone Garda Station.
