New committee in place for St Patrick's Day parade in Moate

A new committee will oversee the Moate St Patrick's Day Parade in 2026.

The outgoing committee hosted its AGM in the Grand Hotel Moate this week during which a number of new officers were elected.

Joe Whelan will serve the role as Chairperson, Lisa Keneghan was elected treasurer, while Stuart Clifford has been appointed as the committee's new secretary.

In June the the outgoing committee confirmed in a social media post that they would be 'stepping down' for next year's parade.

'While we step down, we truly hope our work over the past few years has laid a foundation that others can build on. We are now actively seeking a new committee, concluding a chairperson, treasurer, and secretary, to take over and lead the organisation of future parades," the social media post said.

With new personnel now appointed to organise the town's 2026 St Patrick's Day parade, the outgoing committee said that 'the handover was done in good faith with positive energy and full transparency.

'Fresh eyes will bring a great surprise and our parade will grow bigger and better! We can't wait for March 17, 2026," the outgoing committee said.
