River Festival committee presents cheque to St Hilda's

The Athlone River Festival committee has made a fundraising cheque presentation in support of St Hilda's Special School.

St Hilda's Special School was the fundraising affiliation organisation for this year's Athlone River Festival, which took place during the August bank holiday weekend. Committee chairperson Padraig Hegarty made the €1,700 cheque presentation on Friday morning.

"We were absolutely delighted to support St Hilda's Special School with a percentage of the overall fundraising efforts from this year’s Athlone River Festival," Padraig said.

"We would also like to thank our partners Athlone Triathlon Club who provided €200 towards this amount of money provided to the school."

The committee chairperson added that he wished to thank "the people of Athlone" for supporting the Athlone River Festival's fundraising cause.

"In the past two years the Athlone River Festival has supported two local groups in the town with fundraising and we look forward to continuing this tradition and giving back to our community," Padraig concluded.
