St Peter's confirm signing of former Charlton Athletic striker
St Peter's Football Club have confirmed the signing of former Charlton Athletic striker Dylan Gavin for the 2025/26 season.
The reigning CCFL Premier Division and Counties Cup holders announced the signing of the Athlone native in a social media post in which they also confirmed that Cameron Keighery (Athlone Town U20s) and Josh McCarthy (Monksland United) would also wear the club's green and white hoop jersey during the forthcoming season.
The signing of Gavin will be a significant boost for Mark McConnell's team. Gaving started his football journey as an underage player with the McCarthy Park club before joining Athlone Town.
Gavin joined Championship club Charlton Athletic in 2019 and made one first team appearance for the South London based club prior to being loaned to non-league English clubs.
Released by Charlton, he signed for Athlone Town at the start of the 2023 season, beofre crossing the channel once again to sign for Scottish League Two team Elgin City for whom he played on 49 occasions, scoring nine times.
He departed the Scottish club earlier this month, a Facebook post on behalf of Gavin thanking everyone involved at the club.
"The players, staff and the fans - you’ve been amazing since I’ve been here. I’ve loved my time here and I wish everyone at the club the very best for the season ahead and the future," Gavin said.
St Peter's started the defence of their CCFL Premier Division title with a comprehensive 8-1 defeat of Monksland United on Sunday.
The McCarthy Park club travel to Coolraine for their second league game of the season this weekend.
