Dates and venues confirmed for Roscommon SFC semi-finals

The dates and venues have been confirmed for the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Roscommon senior football championship semi-final fixtures.

Reigning champions Padraig Pearses will play St Faithleachs in Kiltoom on Saturday, October 4, at 5pm, while St Brigid's will play Clann na nGael in Woodmount on Sunday, October 5, at 3pm.

Pearses achieved a semi-final berth with a remarkable comeback win over Boyle in their quarter-final game. Trailing by seven points as the game ebbed towards its conclusion, the 2024 county champions rallied to force extra time and eventually win the tie by five points.

St Faithleach's will once again provide the semi-final opposition for Pearses, the club's meeting at this stage of the competition last year.

Both clubs also met in the group phase of this year's senior football championship when Ian Bradley's charges defeated Pearses by five points.

The Murtagh brothers, Ciaran and Diarmuid, were very much to the fore, during the Ballyleague based club's win over Michael Glaveys in their final eight match.

The Sunday afternoon semi-final pairing of South Roscommon rivals Clann na nGael and St Brigid's is certain to attract many neutral supporters to Woodmount.

St Brigid's were the first team through to the semi-final stage when they responded from their surprise group phase loss to Michael Glaveys with a resounding 11 point defeat of 2024 finalists Roscommon Gaels.

There they will meet long-time foes Clann na nGael who secured their place in the final four of the senior championship with a five point win over Elphin, overturning a one point half-time deficit in the process.
