Memorable weekend for camogie in Westmeath
Finals week of the Westmeath Camogie season came to a conclusion on Sunday following three great spectacles in Senior A, Senior B, and Junior A. The Westmeath Camogie Executive thank sDavid Smyth Catering and Deelside Coaches for sponsoring the championships, once again. Their involvement and support are so crucial. Likewise, to main county sponsor, Shay Murtagh Ltd, for all they did for the Lake County in 2025.
THANK YOU
A huge thanks to Uachtarán an Cumann Camògaíochta, Brian Molloy, for attending the Junior A final on Sunday in TEG Cusack Park. Brian attended and pulled the teams for the launch of the championship, and so it was great for him to be there for the culmination of it all. Go raibh maith agat!
CONGRATULATIONS
Presentations were made to all the Westmeath underage sides before the weekend finals. Congratulations to everybody involved in those teams – players, mentors, families. Close to 200 names were read out over the weekend!

PATTERSON PUMP IRELAND LTD MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
With the Senior and Junior finals done, attention now turns to the final set of club finals in Westmeath Camogie for 2025 – the Minor finals. With the support of Patterson Pump Ireland Ltd as sponsors for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, each of our four finals, for the first time ever, will have custom made Player of the Match awards (provided entirely by Patterson Pump Ireland) which will be given out at the end of each final. Here is a brief look ahead to the four deciders!
Division 1 Shield: Clonkill v Castlepollard/Crookedwood. Two sides who had mixed fortunes in the group stages of the competition and finished in the mid-table areas but still found three wins between them in their games. Scoring has been good for the Loughegar outfit as it has for the amalgamation team also. Defending will be crucial – neither side has shown their best and where the Shield goes at full time is uncertain.
Division 2 Shield: Delvin v St Oliver Plunkett’s/St Brigid’s. With neither side experienced on the 3G surface in Loman’s, getting used to the bounce on that surface will take a few minutes. Like their Division 1 counterparts, these two finished in the middle of their group and has some wins scattered amongst a few tricky contests. Delvin have the firepower, but can the Plunkett’s/Brigid’s defence hold firm?
Division 1 Cup: Lough Lene Gaels v Raharney. In the first of the Kinnegad double-header, the side boasting the 100% record in Raharney meet Lough Lene Gaels who only dealt with one defeat this season – against Raharney! Loads to play for with several of the Joristown outfit having lined out for their senior last weekend also. A coin toss of a game.
Division 2 Cup
Drumraney/Southern Gaels v Cullion/Brownstown. Two teams on the rise at senior in Drumraney (new Senior B champions) and Southern Gaels (new junior B champions) have joined forces at minor level and so far, they have won extremely comfortably.
RESULTS
David Smyth Catering Senior ‘A’ Final (Matrix Cup): Clonkill 0-13 Raharney 1-9
David Smyth Catering Senior ‘B’ Final: Drumraney 4-12 St Munnas 1-7
Deelside Coaches Junior ‘A’ Final:P Cullion 1-11 Brownstown 0-11
