N55 Glasson roadworks to cause traffic disruption

Motorists travelling along the busy N55 road to Glasson can expect some traffic disruption between now and Christmas due to the intermittent closure of sections of the road to facilitate pavement management improvement roadworks in the village of Glasson.

The roadworks will take place between October 20 next and December 5, and will be carried out in three separate stages. Works on the first stage of the project will be completed over a five week period between 8am and 5pm and will result in the closure of the N55 in Glasson from the R390 at Ballykeeran to the Local Road L-1437 Pearsonsbrook Road at Glasson.

Stage 2 will involve the temporary closure of the N55 from the L-1437 Pearsonsbrook Road to Local Road L-5467 Killinure Road at Glasson over three nights, with works to be carried out between 7am and 6pm.

The shortest period of works will be Stage 3, which will see the N55 Glasson - from Local Road L-5467 Killinure Road at Glasson to Local Road L-5465 Tubberclair closed for a period of two nights, with all works being carried out from 8am to 5pm.

Westmeath County Council has advised motorists using the N55 that local roads will remain open at all times other than during the Temporary Road Closure notice period.

A number of alternative routes have been put in place for motorists, who are being asked to exercise the utmost caution and drive carefully for the duration of the roadworks in Glasson.
