Athlone native Lauren Kennedy is put on the music spot during a recent stroll through the Bowery district in Lower Manhattan

WATCH: Athlone woman donates winnings to Palestine cause

Athlone native Lauren Kennedy has donated 20,520USD to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund after she was put to the Irish music artist's test on a morning stroll through the Bowery district in her adopted home of New York.

While out and about in Lower Manhattan, Lauren was asked to participate in a video for the Track Star Show, an American music programme renowned for its viral online clips.

The subject matter theme being Irish bands and their music, Lauren was asked to name the artists as she listened to song excerpts through headphones.

Without pause or fail, Lauren easily named all the music artists to whom she listened and in doing so accumulated winnings which she graciously donated to the humanitarian cause in Palestine.

Lauren, who is in the throes of training for the New York marathon on November 2, is based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, having moved to the Big Apple in 2019.
