Padraig Pearses hurler on 'Champion 15 Team of the Year'

Padraig Pearses club player Seán Canning has been named on the combined Christy Ring, Nickey Rackard and Lory Meagher 'Champion 15 Team of the Year'.

Canning is one of four Roscommon players selected on the team which represents counties from the third, fourth and fifth tier hurling championship competitions.

Goalkeeper Enda Lawless, corner back Mark Ward and centre back Conor Cosgrove complete the quartet of Roscommon inclusions on the team.

Canning played a pivotal role in Roscommon's defeat of Mayo in the Nickey Rackard final, contributing 1-2 to his county's victory.

Canning is also part of the Padraig Pearses squad preparing for the Roscommon SFC final against St Brigid's on Sunday, October 26, having started in their recent semi-final win over St Faithleach's.

The awards will be presented at a gala black-tie function in Croke Park on Friday night, the show to be streamed live on the GAA YouTube channel.
