20 patients on trolleys in local hospitals
A total of 20 patients are waiting on hospital trolleys across two key hospitals in the Midlands today, according to the latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).
Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar reported 15 patients waiting on trolleys due to a lack of available beds. Of those, 11 are on trolleys in the emergency department, while 4 are elsewhere in the hospital.
Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe reported five patients on trolleys, all of which are in the emergency department.
A total of 402 admitted patients are waiting for hospital beds across the country. Of those, 271 patients are waiting on trolleys in emergency departments, while 131 are on trolleys in hospital wards due to a lack of available beds.
