Athlone Town quartet nominated for Player of the Year award
Four Athlone Town players have been nominated for the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Player of the Year.
Striker Kelly Brady, wingers Madison Gibson, Roisin Molloy and central midfielder Hannah Waesch, have been recognised for their contributions to the club's successful retention of the Women's Premier League title.
Brady already has one accolade to her name winning the Golden Boot award after she topped the charts with 20 league goals in her debut season.
The quartet will be hoping to complete the 'double' on Sunday when Athlone Town travel to Tallaght Stadium to play Bohemians in the Women's FAI Cup final (kick-off, 3pm).
Treaty United midfielder Isabella Flocchini, who scored 13 league goals, and Wexford attacker Ellen Molloy, are also in contention for the Player of the Year award.
Meanwhile, Colin Fortune, who departed his role of Athlone Town women's manager in September, has been nominated for the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Manager of the Year.
Bohemian's manager Alban Hysa and Sean Russell of Treaty United, both of whom had a major impact with their respective teams, have also been nominated for the award.
The 11 players who will make up the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Team of the Year will be unveiled at the November 14 ceremony along with the winners for the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Goal of the Year (Presented by Rockshore), EA SPORTS LOI WU19 Player of the Year (Presented by EA SPORTS) and EA SPORTS LOI WU17 Player of the Year (Presented by UMBRO), as well as the recipients of the Services to League of Ireland Award (Presented by SSE Airtricity).
