Athlone’s Killian awarded credit union student bursary

West-Midlands Credit Union has congratulated Athlone's Killian Redmond after he was awarded its student bursary.

Killian is studying Accounting with Finance at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS).

The West-Midlands Credit Union said the student bursary programme was an important element of its commitment to supporting education.

"By helping students manage the costs of their studies, we're investing not only in their future but in the long-term strength and wellbeing of our local communities," said West-Midlands Credit Union in a statement.

"At the heart of every credit union is the principle of people helping people - and supporting students on their educational journey is an important part of that."

West-Midlands Credit Union was established when the former Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union merged with St Jarlath’s Credit Union. The Athlone launch took place in August.

The credit union has more than 80,000 members and operates 14 branches in total, including one in Athlone and one in Monksland.
