Candlelit walk in Athlone
Have you lost someone you love to suicide or by traumatic death? On Thursday, October 31, in Athlone, Hope Trust will be facilitating a candlelit walk in memory of all those whose lives have been lost.
The gathering will begin at Athlone Castle at 7pm, across from St. Peter and Paul’s church, and walk across the bridge to the town centre.
Hope Trust envisages the walk as a celebration of life and to include support and prayer for those who have lost loved ones to suicide or traumatic death.
All are welcome. The candles signify light entering the darkness and bringing hope to those who are in despair.
Hope Trust says it wants you to know that if you are struggling or grieving, you are not alone. In uncertain and difficult times in life it always helps to know there’s a place you can go and people you can find support from.
A spokesperson said: “Our aim is to spread the message of hope. God cares, and people in this town care. You are not alone.!
Hope Trust also has a film series running called “Stories of Hope” which can be found on its website (www.hopetrust.ie), Facebook page (HopeTrust Ireland) and Instagram (Hope Trust).
It covers nine different real-life stories from people affected by suicide. Hope Trust prays that those who watch them would find comfort, encouragement and hope for the future.
