Singleton renews contract with Athlone Town for 2026 season

Fresh from a return from serious injury at the end of the club's double winning season, Chloe Singleton has committed her immediate future to Athlone women's first team ahead of the 2026 season.

The attacking midfielder returned to action, following a serious ankle injury suffered in August 2024, during Athlone's last league fixture of the season against Sligo Rovers and will be hoping to make a significant impact next season as the club aims to retain its Women's Premier Division and FAI Cup titles.

The Monksland native signed for Athlone Town from Galway United ahead of the 2023 season and played a pivotal role in the club's FAI Cup success that year.

She also featured prominently during the successful 2024 league season before injury in a league match away to Shelbourne cut her campaign short.

Singleton joins Kayleigh Shine, Hannah Waesch, Madison Gibson, Kerryanne Brown and Natalie McNally in committing their immediate future to the club.

Meanwhile, Athlone Town men's first team have confirmed the signing of the season, experienced goalkeeper Brendan Clarke joining the club from Galway United.

With close to 600 appearances across his League of Ireland career, Clarke will bring a wealth of experience to the role having also played with St Patrick's Athletic, Shelbourne and Sligo Rovers.

Clarke is first team manager Ian Ryan's first signing of the close season.
