Community survey for Hodson Bay Waterfront Park project closes this Friday

Roscommon County Council has launched a community survey in relation to the transformative €30 million Hodson Bay Waterfront Park Project, which will remain open until 6pm this Friday, November 14.

The council noted that all input is valuable, as it aims to build "something special" in the local community.

The first public consultation event for the project took place on Thursday, October 23, at the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone.

The council said this event marked a significant milestone in the project’s journey, inviting the community to actively participate in shaping the future of the waterfront.

It said the consultation was a key part of the design process, promoting openness, collaboration, and community-led development.

Held in a drop-in format, the event included exhibition panels, plans, and visualisations of the proposed redevelopment. Attendees had the opportunity to speak directly with the design team and project partners, share ideas, and provide valuable feedback.

"The response was fantastic, with over 135 people attending, including local residents, business owners, recreational users, and community group representatives," said the county council in a statement.
